To make a custom stamp of your baby's foot you must make an imprint of it for the stamp maker. This is a relatively simple process. Materials Needed

Water soluable non-toxic paint

3-4 Pieces of Paper

Paintbrush/Sponge

First - Make sure you buy non-toxic paint, that is safe for babies and easily removed with water. You should find plenty of these at good craft stores. A dark shade of paint would be ideal so that the stamp maker can get a good outline of the foot.

Before you actually apply paint to your baby's foot get comfortable with the action of guiding the baby's foot to paper. You will need to practice this motion a few times before you and baby are comfortable. This practice avoids the mess of paint and a struggling baby when you actually do your baby footprint stamp for real.

Make sure your baby is comfortable lying down or sitting in their highchair. Apply the paint to your baby's foot using a brush or sponge.

Press your baby's foot to the paper, but not too hard as you will smudge the foot's details. If you are having a hard time getting a good print due to the flimsiness of the paper then support it using a book. You should be able to get a much better print when the foot is pressed against a hard surface.

Repeat this process until you feel you have a good baby keepsake footprint!

Wash off the paint and choose your best print for the stamp maker.
