Baby Room Safety
From Cribs to Outlets and More.
If you’re preparing a nursery room for your first baby you may not realize how fast they grow and start to move around. That’s why there are a few baby room safety tips that can really help out in keeping everyone safe.
From Cribs to Outlets and More.
And I say everyone because sometimes there is a big brother or sister who’ll love visiting their new little baby brother or sister and keeping the room safe for baby will also be keeping the room safe for other children in the house.
Here is a Baby Room Safety checklist that will help you with keeping your nursery room safe. By no means is this a complete list as there are many ways to keep baby safe in their room but it is a list that should help out and point you in the right direction.
- Outlet Covers
- Tie Up Blind Cords – Or have them shortened and take out loops as small children could get tangled in them and choak.
- Cover all sharp edges with special foam corners. For example dressers, window sills etc.
- Safety Gate to keep baby from wandering out of the room as they age and also to keep toddlers out of baby’s room.
- Screen Door – This is great for keeping your pets, dogs and cats out of baby’s room, yet you can hear when baby needs you.
- Read all your Baby Crib safety instructions at least twice as each crib has different instructions on how to keep baby safe.
- Baby Monitor – To keep an ear and or an eye on baby all times to make sure they’re ok.
- Baby Sleep Positioner – To keep baby from rolling, great for newborns.
- Baby Crib Rail Covers – For teething babies.
- Cabinet Locks and Straps – Great for keeping baby out of dressers and opening top dresser drawers that could fall out.
- Door and Window Locks – Not only could an unlocked door be a safety issue with baby wandering out or into a closet but little fingers tend to get pinched when doors are open.
- Finger Pinch Guard – For Bi-fold doors.
- Night Lights
- Power Strip Covers
- Room Darkening Blinds – Especially if your baby crib is near a window.
Again this is just a partial list of baby room safety ideas. It’s always a good idea to keep cords away from children as well as items like humidifiers, radios etc. Keep them out of reach at all times. Also all little toys or items that baby may put in their mouth should be out of the room if possible but definitely away from the crib.
Also it’s advised to never leave baby alone on the bed even for an instant because they can quickly and easily roll off and get hurt. Because you never know when baby will make that first roll over.
I hope this nursery room safety / baby room safety page helps you in creating a safe haven and beautiful room for baby to grow in.
